Job Description Our company's Research Laboratories in South San Francisco is seeking a highly capable Senior Scientist with a strong background in enzymology and biochemical/biophysical assay development to join the Quantitative Biosciences department. The individual will work in the laboratory to independently design, execute, and interpret complex in vitro studies to support immunology and oncology drug discovery, with a major focus on antibody-drug conjugates (ADC). Successful candidates should demonstrate extensive experimental and technical capabilities, a strong track record supporting drug discovery research, and the ability to drive innovation. He or she should have excellent analytical and communication skills and can work effectively in a highly collaborative cross-functional team environment. Key responsibilities: Provide enzymology and biophysics expertise to support target biology and drug discovery in immunology and oncology, with a key focus on antibody drug conjugatesDevelop potency, kinetic, and mechanistic assays to characterize enzymatic targets and modulators, using sophisticated biochemical and biophysical methodsLeverage extensive lab automation to improve quality, efficiency, and overall productivityDrive scientific and technical innovations to enhance functional capability and productivityRepresent Quantitative Biosciences department in multi-disciplinary project teams to provide robust scientific and technical supportCollaborate extensively across the research laboratory network and with external partners to drive project progression toward milestones Qualifications: PhD or BS/MS in Enzymology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related scientific discipline, with a minimum of 3 years (PhD) or 10 years (BS/MS) of drug discovery experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical settingExpertise in mechanistic enzymology and kinetics, as well as a solid understanding of complex enzyme modulation and SAR support for drug discoveryHighly skilled in the development of plate-based high-throughput biochemical assays, using a wide range of detection methods (spectrophotometric, radiometric, fluorescence, etc.)Highly experienced with modern biophysical techniques and instruments (e.g. SPR, NanoDSF, etc.) to measure molecular interactions and kinetic parametersFamiliarity with automated liquid handling instruments (Multidrop, Bravo, Echo, etc.)Strong track record in leveraging biochemical/biophysical data to drive SAR and mechanistic differentiation/optimization of small molecule and biologic lead candidatesPrior experience with ADC or related immuno-oncology drug discovery is a plusDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment to advance drug discovery, with excellent organization and communication skillsWe are a research-driven biopharmaceutical company.
