Principal, Commercial and Medical Affairs Executive & Internal Communication

The Communication & Engagement team designs and manages internal
communications for the Genentech U.S. Commercial, Medical Affairs,
and Government Affairs (CMG) organization in order to inform,
inspire and engage employees.
We are currently looking for an experienced executive and
internal and external communications professional who is passionate
about shaping the employee communications experience to join our
team. The right individual will be able to strategize, collaborate
with stakeholders, counsel and synthesize one minute and execute
the next. This individual will work closely with internal
communication teams and external stakeholders, CMG senior leaders,
and partners to lead internal and external strategic communication
campaigns, change management communication, and cultural engagement
efforts; develop innovative ways to engage employees and inspire
them to action; and write clear and exceptional communications,
business update presentations, and talking points. In addition,
this expert communicator will provide strategic direction in
elevating brand reputation, designing and implementing an
organizational communication strategy, collaborating with a
diverse, broad range of internal and external partners on related
culture/engagement efforts, and serving as a connector and
storyteller to raise awareness of the organization's collective
purpose and vision to strengthen internal and external

plans to advance the organizational vision, strategic priorities
and growth objectives.
Elevate the visibility of Commercial and Medical Affairs through
high-impact communication campaigns that build positive perceptions
and advance the Commercial and Medical Affairs narrative.
Conceptualize and creatively design compelling written and
visual content to promote awareness across a broad range of
internal and external audiences via multiple channels.
Serve as key partner in bridging internal enterprise-wide
partner functions (e.g., Research, Product Development, Commercial,
and Government Affairs)
Collaborate closely with a broad range of enterprise-wide
cross-functional stakeholders and liaise with other communication
partners across the company (Corporate Relations, Global Medical
Affairs, Commercial, Pharma Development, etc,) to ensure
corporate-level messaging consistency.
Build and cultivate relationships with patients, speakers,
subject-matter experts, local communities, and collaborators to
enable CMG to become more externally focused and relevant, while
promoting awareness around Commercial and Medical core
competencies, innovation and values.
Act as the primary contact for all assigned CMG Communications
projects in designing and implementing communications strategies,
plans, and tactics. Define, scopes, and structures CMG

Qualifications and Experience: unless stated as "preferred" or
"a plus," all other criteria is required
Bachelor's degree (general business, public relations, marketing
and/or communications disciplines are preferred).MBA or other
related graduate-level degree is preferred.
Comprehensive understanding of Commercial and Medical Affairs
core business and corporate-level strategies and objectives,
activities and communications, and execution is preferred.
Previous corporate communications or communications agency
experience required and marketing experience is preferred.
Average of 12 or more years of multi-disciplinary work
experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech/or related industry
A minimum of 8 years of previous communications or public
relations experience, with 5 years of experience gained in the
pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industry.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and
extensive communications design experience and advanced
presentation development skills.
Proven ability to develop and implement communication strategies
in collaboration with a diverse team.
Proven ability to provide strategic communications counsel to
senior leaders, orchestrating high-visibility executive
presentations, and developing brand identity.
Experience in engaging high-performance teams and developing
innovative communication platforms.
Ability to design and implement innovative communication efforts
that engage and inspire others at various levels in the
