As an Associate Director of Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering (ADPE), you'll specifically lead the Immunoinformatics and Antibody Engineering sub-team to advance the portfolio of discovery and pre-clinical programs. Broad responsibility within Research and contribute across our therapeutic areas. Use your hard-earned antibody engineering skills to help us achieve our mission of saving lives by curing these diseases. Specifically, you will have a background in one or more of the following areas: Therapeutic antibody discovery, in vitro (phage/yeast display technologies; naive and immunized phage libraries), bioinformatics, screening for PTM risk, immunogenicity risk and developability assessment.

During the first year, your goals will include:

  • Define how the group will contribute to our ADPE's overall 3-5 year strategy to continually improve our Antibody Engineering capabilities.
  • Lead protein engineering efforts in areas such as multi-specific antibodies, Fc engineering, tissue penetration, and protein sciences
  • Contribute to antibody discovery efforts by applying your past experience with different antibody discovery platforms, techniques, instruments and workflows.
  • Lead and mentor existing team members and assemble a best-in-class protein engineering and discovery team.
  • Offer scientific and technical leadership within your team and cross-functionally
  • Lead workflow of the group to ensure quality, prioritization, and timeliness across multiple programs
  • Handle external collaborators and serve as a key scientific liaison with external organizations
  • Work closely to incorporate new technologies into the company and support technology integration across teams
  • Ensure operations are designed and sourced appropriately to enable us to achieve our ambitious goals

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • Your educational background includes a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related field
  • You have 8 or more years of post-PhD experience in biotechnology drug development in industry
  • You take pride in building state-of-the-art technology capabilities and staying on top of the latest developments in the field
  • You thrive in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment where we were work individually and on teams
  • You're proficient with all aspects of a high-performing protein engineering process, including having significant experience with antibody engineering functions such as hybridoma antibody discovery technology, antibody optimization and affinity maturation
  • You have specific experience working on neurology or oncology targets (preferred but not required)
  • Your research has been published in high-impact academic journals
  • You demonstrate a track record of being strong interpersonally and with experience leading a group and being responsible for multi-disciplinary projects
  • You have a point of view, value your independent thinking, and are low ego
