Astellas is announcing a Director, Scientific Strategy, Cell
Therapy & Immuno-Oncology opportunity at their Xyphos site in South
San Francisco, CA.
The Director, Scientific Strategy for Cell Therapy and
Immuno-Oncology will provide enterprise-wide cancer biology and
immunology expertise, advice and guidance to the research and
preclinical activities of the Astellas Cell Therapy Center of
Excellence and PFIO (PF-IO) Cell Therapy Program. The Director will
be a member of the teams responsible for the IO Cancer Cell
programs and collaborations at AIRM, Universal Cell, and DDR. The
Director will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the
functional interdependencies and critical path of immunologic
activities from discovery to Candidate Nomination (CN). This senior
advisor position will also provide immunology expertise for
preclinical development and manufacturing efforts after CN. This
position will participate with Xyphos COE Leadership team and
Primary Focus-Immuno-Oncology (PF-IO) Lead in development of
immuno-oncology research strategy.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
* Provide enterprise-wide cancer biology, immuno-oncology and
immunology expertise, advice, and guidance, reporting to the Senior
Director of Scientific Strategy. * Develop a strategic critical
path to progress and accelerate Cell Therapy IO asset development.
* Facilitate meaningful interpretation and assessment of
immuno-oncology data and opportunities for decision making with
Business Development. * Participates in relevant current and future
cell therapy research collaborations and partnerships with academic
institutions and companies. * Leads COE planning efforts by
identifying specific capability and partnership needs. * Initiates
and manages relationships with KOLs and attend relevant IO
scientific meetings as indicated. * Performs other duties as
assigned or special projects as needed.
* PhD. with 14+ years, MS with 20+ years or BS with 25+ years of
relevant experience. * Excellent scientific written/oral
communication skills. * Demonstrated industry experience or
academic achievement, as evidenced by drug development portfolio or
publications in high impact journals. * Ability to foster and
balance a culture of compliance within a culture of innovation *
Strategic thinking; ability to influence without authority, in a
matrix environment * Strong time-management and organizational
skills coupled with a sense of urgency and strong work ethic. *
Critical thinking skills, robust technical writing skills, strong
immunology skills, good interpersonal communication skills. *
Collaborative team player -- communicate well with team members,
think the best for the teams, act quickly, identify creative
solutions to complex problems, respect others, embrace diversity
and be accountable. * Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Outlook and Project or an equivalent.
* PhD with 10+ years of post-doctoral experience in cancer
biology, immunology, immuno-oncology and drug development. *
Experience in global company, which needs coordination of multiple
sites speak different languages.
