Job Description:

The Department of Cellular and Tissue Genomics (CTG) is seeking a highly motivated computational group lead to manage a team of computational scientists in the analysis of high dimensional profiling and high-content screening data.

CTG aims to develop and use high resolution methods to characterize cells and tissues at the single cell and spatial level to accelerate scientific discovery and help identify therapies and next generation biomarkers for precision medicine treatments for patients.

The successful candidate will work closely with members of the Bioinformatics Department, the Department of Cellular and Tissue Genomics, and the Translational Genomics group, to provide strategic direction and oversight of computational efforts, and to work collaboratively with these groups to develop new therapeutic hypotheses and advance transformative medicines. Our Translational Genomics efforts span the interface of human genetics, functional genomics, molecular biology, disease model engineering, tissue and cellular profiling, and advanced computational methodology. The successful candidate will drive an independent research program and Publication of scientific and/or methodological papers is an important component of this position.


  • Ph.D., M.D. or Ph.D/M.D. with relevant experience in using computational methods to study tumor immunology, molecular oncology, immunology or neuroscience. bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, software engineering, or a similar field

  • Excellent mentoring and managing skills across all levels

  • Deep understanding of computational approaches for analyzing high-resolution genomic data including: single cell genomics, spatial genomics, and or high-content perturbation datasets, and an interest in applying novel approaches to explore and integrate such data

  • Outstanding scientific publication record of impactful discoveries that reveal novel biological pathways and/or advanced technologies to enable biological discovery

  • Experience working with experimental biologists including high throughput single cell genomics and interpretation of results

  • Evidence of scientific independence and accomplishments comparable to Associate Professor with tenure or Full Professor at a top-tier research university, or equivalent

  • Excellent communication and data presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex scientific results to a diverse audience

  • Intense curiosity about the biology of disease and eagerness to contribute to scientific and computational efforts focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying disease etiology

  • Experience in working with teams including biologists, technologists, and computational scientists

  • Demonstrated expertise in a programming language such as R or python, experience with version control systems, and familiarity with high-performance computing environments.
