Marea Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company
based in San Francisco with a growing pipeline of first-in-class
therapies to address genetically validated cardioendocrine disease

in Phase 2 clinical development (MAR001) and a MAR002 is
progressing towards clinical development acromegaly[MC1] . Marea is

understand challenges and drive results. ABOUT THE ROLE We are
seeking a highly motivated Scientist with broad hands-on experience
with in vitro molecular/cell-based assays and antibody functional
characterization studies to join our research team. This role will
work closely with the head of biology and other research team
members in the optimization and execution of molecular, cellular
and ex vivo studies to support drug candidate selection and
preclinical research. A good foundation in cell culture, tissue and
blood sample processing, functional bioassays and gene expression
assays is essential. The ideal candidate will have technical
excellence, scientific rigor, great interpersonal/collaboration
skills and outstanding work ethic. This is a full-time, San
Francisco-based position with the expectation of working on-site.
Requirements Cell and tissue culture and processing Execute
workflows involving mammalian cell culture (including primary
cells), as well as processing of solid tissues and blood samples
(e.g., PBMCs, serum, plasma). Prepare lysate samples or isolate
DNA/RNA for downstream molecular analysis. High-throughput
(96-/384-well) molecular biology and immune-based quantitative
assays Branched DNA assay, RT-qPCR, ELISA, Western blot and other
immunoassays to evaluate mRNA and protein levels in a variety of
biological matrices. Antibody characterization assays Optimization
and execution of in vitro/cell-based assays for functional
evaluation of antibody activity. Scientific communication Keep
impeccable experiment and data records. Present results clearly to
internal teams; contribute data to scientific publications,
regulatory documents, and conference materials. QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S./M.S. in Life Sciences (e.g., Molecular Biology, Cell Biology,
Biochemistry, Physiology) with 8 years of applied biology industry
experience. Strong knowledge of cell culture techniques. Skilled in
cell, tissue and blood sample processing. Hands-on experience with
high-throughput quantitative in vitro assays. Familiar with assay
qualification principles and best practices in biological
variability and required assay controls. Ability to work both
independently and in a collaborative way. We are a lean team, and
you may be required to cover for planned absences of other team
members. Experience with biological data analysis software (e.g.,
GraphPad Prism, SoftMax Pro,FlowJo, etc.) and ELN. Comfortable
working in the fast-paced environment of biotech start-up
Experience supporting/contributing to drug discovery, drug
candidate selection, or IND-enabling studies preferred WORKING
CONDITIONS Prolonged periods of seating and standing and working in
a laboratory environment Ability to occasionally adjust, handle, or
move objects up to 50 pounds Salary Description $122,000 -
